  • Charity Project: “Who is King of Football” A multi-subject public welfare programme using a sports programme for public good
Introduction:“Who is King of Football” is a large-scale sports event sponsored by the State General Administration of Sports and China Central Television. In recent years, through badminton matches, table tennis matches and football matches it has received good ratings on CCTV-5. In 2015, CCTV Sports and China Social Welfare Foundation launched the school football public welfare programme, in a bid to attract public attention to football in schools through online participation to promote the improvement of football facilitates in schools.
A dream-realizing public welfare programme that taps into the dreams of the poor.
We visited many schools across the country in the course of producing the fourth season of the campus football contest for “Who is King of Football”. Many kids who love football are unable to receive proper training because of the absence of professional football equipment. Some get injured and have to leave their beloved playground. By launching the #Keepie uppies of hope public welfare activity, we are committed to making more children receive football training and play football in a proper, healthy way. We hope that through the efforts of society, we will be able to go from equipping one hundred schools to covering all schools short of sports equipment across the country. We will make children grow with happiness and help positively foster a harmonious society. In light of this, CCTV Sports, 51Give and China Social Welfare Foundation jointly initiated the “Go with Me” public welfare programme. It calls on caring people to donate football equipment to children who love football yet lack the equipment. Let us help children have equal access to their football dream.

Charity Project: Promote Pneumoconiosis Prevention Knowledge
Introduction:About the project: the programme Promoting Pneumoconiosis Prevention Knowledge is a special project by Love Save Pneumoconiosis Fund to spread the knowledge of pneumoconiosis.Love Save Pneumoconiosis Fund stemmed from the grand initiative of seeking and saving Chinese peasants suffering from pneumoconiosis, which was initiated on June 15 2011 by journalist Wang Keqin and China Social Assistance Foundation. It is a charity fund targeting six million Chinese peasants suffering with pneumoconiosis, and promoting the prevention and ultimate elimination of the disease. Pneumoconiosis is a serious occupational disease in China, compromising 90% of all occupational diseases. A further 90% of its sufferers are peasants. Experts say that amongst the six million peasants suffering from pneumoconiosis, there is a mortality rate of 22.04%. It means that three young peasants die every two hours. In the last stages of their life, to make their lungs a little more comfortable sufferers have to kneel to breathe. These people are literally “dying on their knees”. They are facing death helplessly and alone.
The publicity of pneumoconiosis prevention is mainly carried out through spreading knowledge of pneumoconiosis, which helps address treatment and prevention of death from the disease. The publicity is largely implemented through network communication, traditional media reports, and offline activities. On one hand, it will make migrant workers more aware of the danger of dust. On the other hand, it will help make the public, social organizations and the government more concerned on the topic of pneumoconiosis amongst peasants. It expects to make more people pay attention to the issue and make it a topic known to every household.

Charity Project: About Qingquan Talent Fund
Introduction:Qingquan Talent Fund is an education fund launched by Zhejiang entrepreneur Di Yuzeng in 2008. On August 6 2011, it was officially established as a special charitable foundation under the support of China Social Welfare Foundation administered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It was unveiled by Gu Xiulian, director of the Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, former vice chairwoman of National People’s Congress and former construction minister Ye Rutang. Upholding the philosophy of poverty alleviation through education that "learning changes fate, knowledge lights up life and education builds the future", the fund carries out long-term financial aid to outstanding high school students from impoverished families in remote areas of central and western China, in a bid to help them be better off and have an opportunity at higher education.
Unequal opportunities have natural factors, social development factors and more importantly human factors. Those who need education the most are rural left-behind children who can only play in the company of their grandparents. When it comes to learning language and general knowledge, rural pupils only listen to unqualified local teachers with heavy accents. Insufficient materials do not only have the visible effects, but also leave a spiritual depletion throughout ones life. These children really lack goals, self-confidence and communication because of their barriers information and backward education. For this purpose, Qingquan Talent Fund puts forward the idea and vision that “learning changes fate, knowledge lights up life” to realize equal access to education and pass on love in society.
It is the objective of everyone involved in the fund to put the mission into action in a professional manner. The fund’s tenets aim to achieve transparency, fairness, respect, integrity and growth, as well as to evermore cater to the needs of the people in a loving way.

  • Charity Project: About Porcelain Doll Rare Disease Foundation
Introduction:Porcelain Doll Rare Disease Foundation was founded by China Social Welfare Education Foundation and Porcelain Doll Rare Disease Center in August 2009. It is a special fund for medical relief and social services to patients suffering from rare diseases such as osteogenesis imperfecta and their families. It is the first fund in the country specialized in serving rare disease patients.
At present, most of the osteogenesis imperfecta patients come from families in great distress. It is common to see poverty caused by diseases. Many families cannot afford the heavy medical costs, and the education of the children and employment situation of the family become great worries. There are many other rare diseases that cause the same issues of those faced by children with osteogenesis imperfecta and their families. The rare diseases are often hard to be diagnosed and treated, and have serious affects on the quality of life because of gene defects. However, this patient group has not yet attracted widespread attention from society.
Most families can give birth to children, though we all share the chance of giving birth to a child with a rare disease.

Charity Project: Candlelight Action – Village Education Support Program
Introduction:Candlelight Action – Village Education Support Project is an education public welfare project launched by Parent Heart Public Welfare Fund under China Social Welfare Foundation, for village primary schools or teaching sites in poverty-stricken areas.
By equipping rural schools with professional teachers in sport, music, art, computing and English, the project manages to achieve balanced allocation of educational resources and effectively solve the lack of quality education in rural primary schools. Teachers for the project will be mainly recruited locally, especially graduates majoring in education, providing good salaries and opportunities for further studies for the rural teachers.
Candlelight Action” has departed from the traditional public welfare concept. It puts people first, starting off from human nature, taking into full account the social attributes of rural teachers and their living requirements. It no longer calls on volunteers to make simple dedication in rural areas, but takes rural teaching as a profession. It recruits graduates majoring in education in the local places to serve as rural “Candlelight Teachers”, turning them into education staff of the fund. Their salaries are provided by the fund according to market standard. The fund and the local education authorities manage the teachers jointly. It helps to solve the deficiency of rural teachers, and enable rural children to enjoy quality, balanced education.
‘Localization’ is the greatest difference of the project from traditional support programmes. We employ teachers from the local area and assign them to teach in local primary schools. Keeping talents with salaries, feelings and career development potential, the human resources management principle prevalent in modern enterprises is borrowed by the fund for use in this public welfare project.

Charity Project: Give a Blind Child a Book

Blind people have lost their eyesight and cannot see anything, but are often compensated with extraordinary abilities and endowments in other aspects. All over the world throughout history many distinguished blind people have emerged with outstanding merits to their name, such as Homer, Zuo Qiuming, Jianzhen, Louis Braille and Helen Keller. In modern China there are also many blind people highly skilled in a variety of fields, as well as those intelligent with huge potential.
Give a Blind Child a Book, a public welfare project launched by China Disabled Person’s Federation, is aimed at raising funds from the public to assist poor blind children to grow reading and change their own fate with knowledge. It relies on the distribution network of China Braille Publishing House, which covers all schools for the blind across the country, to deliver knowledge, social care and love to the hands of blind children.
To date, China has around 130,000 blind children between 6 and 14 years old. Some of them have high comprehension of melody and music theory, some show distinguished literary talent, and some show great potential in massage and other related therapies…
However, since most blind children come from impoverished families, they cannot afford to buy appropriate reading materials, which helps them in expanding knowledge, broadening vision and improving their quality of life. Many blind children cannot develop their potential and skills, and fail to become self-reliant.

Charity Project: Small Rain Boot Fund
Introduction:On October 18, China Social Welfare Foundation United Donation Center set up the “Small Rain Boot Fund”. It appealed to people to donate 30 yuan to buy children like A Yi a pair of rubber shoes that keep them warm and less prone to skidding,so as to protect their small feet and allow them to walk along the rugged, slippery muddy mountainous roads at ease and warm.
Southwest China is a mountainous region with many windy and rainy days. Many children in these places, subject to road and economic conditions, go to school year round in shoes that do not fit their feet, keep them warm or keep them dry.
The fund staff found in later surveys that it was common for children like A Yi to go to school in shabby shoes in mountainous areas every day. On average in each class about one third of children get a new pair of shoes each year. Most children wore one pair of shoes during their whole time at primary school, and were often not exclusively theirs, being shared with elder brothers and sisters.
